What is the Best Video Editing Program?

By Caleb Rexius

There are many cheap (or even free) ways to edit videos with both mobile and desktop applications. However, if you’re looking for professional, powerful, multi-faceted editing software, you’ll need to pay up for professional programs.

These are the 3 most popular:

Adobe Premiere Pro

This is the most popular and widely used program in the professional commercial and filmmaking industries.

Final Cut Pro

Not as widely used as it once was, but still a great solution for some editors.

DaVinci Resolve

Resolve is an increasingly popular software and color grading tool.

Honorable mentions:

Adobe Premiere Elements & iMovie

These are both entry-level NLEs. Elements is available on both PC and Mac, and it’s the program that I really learned how to edit on. And iMovie is generally built-in to Apple computers (here’s a great tutorial for it).

There you have it. These are the best video editing software options for the modern filmmaker.
